I’ve observed a peculiar trend while progressing through the PvP track, and I’m curious if others have experienced the same. As I’ve moved from rank 100 to 140 this season, my primary goal has been to obtain Dark Matter and a named chest piece. However, my results have been rather underwhelming, with just one Dark Matter acquired thus far. In contrast, a friend who recently began playing and advanced from rank 0 to 20 has received Dark Matter almost consistently. Is this purely a case of exceptionally poor luck, or does the PvP track indeed become more inundated with less desirable rewards as you ascend the ranks? Is it possible that being at a lower rank on the PvP track yields more meaningful rewards?
Back when I used to play, the named armor items were abundant, but now they seem to be a rarity. If this is merely a streak of unfortunate RNG, it truly seems to be a remarkable run of bad luck. I’m interested in learning about other players’ experiences in this regard.
I can corroborate this observation. I had reached track 4 before the expansion and commenced grinding arenas to progress through the tracks. During my journey from tracks 4 to 20, I obtained a substantial amount of Dark Matter. It was only after advancing from rank 20 to 28 that I secured all three artifacts and an adamant, but the Dark Matter yield remained consistent. However, as I continued from rank 30 to 60, Dark Matter has become scarce, and I have yet to acquire another artifact. Instead, I’ve been inundated with subpar gear.
In my opinion, apart from artifacts and gold, the most valuable rewards from the PvP track are the named armor items, especially those with health, shirking heals, and refreshing abilities. These serve as solid, free gear for PvP purposes, which can be quite beneficial for players who lack the resources to craft superior PvP gear. While this gear might not reach the pinnacle of 700 gear score, its 680 gear score is still quite respectable, with a marginal loss of about 10-12 stats, which is not a major drawback. Such rewards could potentially reduce instances of players being one-shotted in arenas, as they would have access to better gear with useful perks.
Furthermore, I believe that tokens, gypsum, purple items, and low-value orange items should not be included in the PvP track rewards, as they generally hold little appeal for PvP-oriented players. Gypsum orbs are a suitable inclusion for crafters, but it might be more reasonable to distribute them in bundles of 10 for a modest amount of salt, say 2k-3k New World Gold Coins.
Finally, it’s disheartening to encounter redundant and low-value weapon perks in the track rewards. For instance, receiving a 10-gold rapier mod while a 30k adamant is available appears quite unfair. It would be beneficial if the rewards were more evenly balanced and practical.
In summary, the question remains: Do rewards from the PvP track worsen as you ascend the ranks? The experiences of several players suggest this might be the case, making it an area worth reviewing and potentially adjusting.
